Pairing: Faramir/Aragorn, only implied.

Rating: Um, PG?
Disclaimer: This is of course what SHOULD have happened when Aragorn saved his
new Steward. Sadly, Tolkien and New Line beat me to it, so we have to go with
their version. Rats.
Beta: Boromir’s Submissive Slash Slut, Half Elf Lost.
Feedback: I’ll be so chuffed if you do. It’s the thing every author
needs to placate her bunny.
Author’s Notes: I’d been listening to Ewan MacColl’s ‘The
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ a lot, so I wasn’t surprised when
the bunny rifled the CD collection to wave it under my nose at daft ‘o clock
one morning. And thus, my first attempt at a song-fic was born. It may be an only
child, you tell me. The bunny went back to sleep.

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes

And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and endless skies, my love
To the dark and empty skies.

My darkness lifted when you took my hand and called me back from a bleak and weary path.

My steps had faltered, caught on the threshold of a vast doorway, a pure light behind me, absolute blackness before.

Your voice summoned me, cajoled me, implored me. Because of your voice, I chose the light and opened my eyes to behold a new world, a changed world, filled with the steady burning flame of your presence.

Your face was the light I returned to and your first smile promised me the skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hands
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

My touch was steady as it stroked your face, fingertips marking the path my lips would follow on your brow, cheek, jaw and mouth.

My journey led me here to this place, with you by my side and the luminous stars of a summer night above us.

Your mouth opened under mine and I tasted a perfect moment in time, forever preserved in the amber of my soul.

Your first kiss set a fire in my blood as you pulled me down into the bracken, permanent brands on my heart and mind, now marked for eternity as yours.

The first time ever I lay with you
And felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the world

And last until the end of time, my love
It would last until the end of time
The first time ever I saw your face
Your face, your face.

My body joined with yours, the world died and was reborn, only to die again and all in the space of a heartbeat.

We lay together under a weathered cloak and discovered what joy could mean: My joy was found in the arching curve of a hip and the sinewed grace of a scarred shoulder.

Your joy was the press of our bodies, the slick of our sweat and the musky, feral scent of our mutual need.

Your heart was beating against mine and the harmony was timeless.
