Chapter 4: Mercy on the Mountain
“I am destroyed by the inside, I disassociate
I hope to destroy the outside, it will alleviate and elevate me”
—Bleed Black
The mountain was cold.
The ground was covered thickly in snow, not even the thick wool shirt he wore could keep him warm. Neither cloak nor magick could help them, for the wind bit hard and the ice hardened fast. He walked with Legolas lightly over the snow, for truly anyone who studied with Elves could learn to shift their weight in such a way.
Legolas stopped, looking out into the scenery as his Elven ears listened. Faramir stood close behind him, shivering slightly. He leant in close to the Elf.
“What does my beloved hear?” Faramir whispered, warm breath washing over pointed ears only to have the skin freeze afterwards.
“There is a foul voice on the air!” Legolas called over the wind, turning and gazing at Faramir’s concentrated expression “Do you not hear his call?” Legolas whispered before looking at Gandalf.
“Saruman!” Gandalf seethed in anger. The mountain shook, rocks falling from higher above. Faramir ducked close to the wall, but Legolas stood his ground for no rocks came his way.
“Is the great Faramir scared?” Legolas teased, Faramir scowled.
“If I was warmer, I’d fight you for that” Faramir hissed, but a small smile graced his frozen lips now.
“He’s trying to bring down the mountain!” Aragorn yelled above the air “Gandalf! We must turn back!”
“No!” Gandalf protested profusely, getting up from his tomb in the snow. He stood his ground on the snow. He yelled back into the air spells or such of his own, making Faramir shiver with such magic being conjured. He was a Man of Elves, not of Wizardry and magick. Elven magick, yes, other kinds simply scared him.
Then lightening struck way above them, this time it rained rocks and snow in a deadly mixture. Faramir and Legolas were both looking up, but they turned their heads down at the same time. Faramir stepped forward, grabbing Legolas by his arm and slamming him against the wall. He stepped farther and grabbed at Pippin’s arm (he was trailed off some) Faramir threw him against the wall as well, but at a price.
“Faramir!” Legolas yelled, his voice clear and piercing threw the very air as Faramir was clearly in the way of many boulders. Then they were buried in snow, all of them. Having all seen their companion in danger, they dug threw the snow.
“He’s gone!” Gimli was the first to exclaim “The lad’s been taken!”
“No! No!” tears welled up in Elven eyes as he dug his way up and over to the edge. He looked down, feeling the man’s presence.
“Legolas!” Faramir yelled, hanging on by merely nothing but protruding rock. He had been hit hard in the stomach by a falling rock, later he knew he would bruise. Legolas acted fast, pulling Sam up from the snow fully and taking from the pack he carried a strong rope the Elves had placed in there.
“Boromir, Aragorn, I need your help!” Legolas said, going over to the edge. He lowered the rope, quickly uncoiling it “Faramir! Grab on, we’ll pull you up!” Faramir nodded feverently “I’ll tell you when!” He turned, receiving a nod from Boromir and Aragorn “Grab hold of me!”
“Who’s the strongest?” Gandalf asked quickly “the physical strongest and largest should be at the front” Legolas quickly gave the rope to Boromir and pointed down at the Gondorian hanging from the side.
Faramir was gasping in breaths, but a silver length of rope was suddenly in front of him. He looked up, not seeing the Elven prince but instead his older brother.
“Grab hold Faramir!” Boromir shouted, Faramir nodded again and trusted his brother fully by grabbing a hold of the rope with both hands. At first, he dropped down a bit as did his heart and he nearly screamed, but then he was pulled up rather quickly. Soon, he was at the edge and pulled into someone’s strong arms. He was pulled to the wall, snuggling close to who held him.
“Dearest little brother…” Boromir sighed out crystallized breath, sifting his fingers threw his brother’s hair before pulling up his hood again. He hugged his sibling, whispering to him quickly. Faramir shivered violently, Legolas dropped to his knees beside them with a heavy sigh. He was relieved, as were they all that they hadn’t lost someone so soon.
“Big brother…” Faramir whispered, cuddling into his brother “Maybe I shouldn’t have come, maybe I was wrong…but I’m glad you’re here with me” Faramir looked over at Legolas “both of you”
“We must get up the mountain!” Boromir yelled to Gandalf “We’ll make for Rohan!”
“Rohan is to close to Isengaurd!” Aragorn replied hastily.
“If we can not go over the mountain, let us go under it!” Gimli sounded eager “Let us go threw the Mines of Moria!” There was a pregnant pause.
“Let the Ring-Bearer decide” Gandalf replied solemnly. Frodo looked around at his frozen kin, then at the trembling lipped Faramir, then at the blue eyed Legolas who feared greatly for the Gondorian, then Boromir who continued to coddle his trembling brother, then at Aragorn who looked neutral, then at Gimli who looked set, and finally at his dearest Sam who simply wanted the best for all of the Fellowship. “Frodo?”
“We will go threw the Mines” Frodo replied solemnly.
“So be it”
Faramir sighed, burying his face into his brother’s tunic.
“Valar have mercy on us….”

That is cute. Please continue. By the way I like how childish you have them acting.
