No money was made from this and no harm meant.

Strange, Haldir thought, how quickly life can change.

One day he was giving a last, fond look at the Golden Wood he loved so dearly and making plans with his brothers, imagining life in Aman.

But RĂºmil had wanted to say goodbye to an old lover from Gondor before they sailed; a man he had met and loved during the war, one he would never forget.

When they crossed Gondor borders, they were met by a dozen Rangers – who drew their swords and demanded to know their business.

Haldir met the captain’s gaze and he knew.

His brothers sailed alone.
