Chapter 11

“You dropped the candle.”

“Please Master Lexius, please just let me…”

The sound of a vicious slap.

“You dropped the candle, I told you, if you drop the candle, he dies.”

The panic in Faramir’s voice is apparent as he begs; “Please, just let me be with him for a while, please…”

Haldir never hears the rest of the conversation as he drifts away again.

This feels familiar. I am on a cart again, or a carriage, but that can’t be…

Slowly Haldir opens his eyes, even the shaded light hurts his eyes, but he can make out a figure, Faramir. Faramir strokes his hair, holding his head gently in his lap, he whispers; “Shhh, just go to sleep again, you need to rest, just sleep, everything is going to be alright, I’m here.”

What a beautiful dream this is.

The light is even more painful here, Haldir closes his eyes again, he thinks to himself that this is a strange dream indeed, there is pain, but then he senses his beloved near him and he can hear the cheerful songs of birds and smell the fresh air. He smiles to himself, it smells like summer.

He feels soft lips come down on his own, they taste of salt and then they are gone.

“Goodbye my love.”

Goodbye?

Startled Haldir awakens and sits up, he looks around him and he sees that it is now dark and he is laying at a campfire in a small clearing in a wood somewhere. He turns and sees the only other person there; Boromir.

When he opens his mouth to ask questions, Boromir speaks; “That bastard has played games with us all, he has told each of us he would buy another free and we fell for it. I think maybe Faramir was the only one who saw through him and knew what was going to happen and decided to keep that information to himself.”

Boromir kicks at a stone and angrily mutters; “Stupid stubborn…”

“Where is he? Where is Faramir?”; Haldir tries to get up, but the soaring pain, makes him have to sit down again, he looks up at Boromir who has started to pace but now stops. When he turns his face towards Haldir, the pure pain portrayed on it, makes Haldir fear for the worst.

“He is with him. I think he has traded himself for us. He is with Master Lexius.”

Faramir takes in the luxurious room lit with dozens of scented candles that he has been told is his. His face is a well sculpted mask of nothingness, not one emotion is visible as Master Lexius comes up behind him and lifts something over his head. Holding it before Faramir’s eyes and letting it catch the light, Faramir’s empty eyes see the thin strip of leather, studded with sparkling stones, a collar.

The collar moves down and he feels it being fastened around his neck. Master Lexius kisses his neck and then lets the soft hair fall over it again, he turns Faramir around by his upper arms and holds him at a small distance to admire his gift; “Perfect.”

“Now.”; Master Lexius lets one finger slide under Faramir’s tunic; “Tell me you love me…”

“I love you… Master.”

This Lexius reminds me of Lucius Malfoy. First it was the cane and gray/blonde hair. Now his name bares such simmularity that I can’t help but think of him.

This is a message for everyone who was kind enough to leave me
a comment, thank you so very much! It really means a lot to hear this
story is liked. And a litle extra note to Tara, you are right I based
Lexius on Lucius Malfoy, since Anorien for whom I write this story really
likes him. But I didn’t want to make it a crossover story so I just
kept his looks and a little of his attitude ;-)

Again, thank you all so very much!

It’s lovely and inspiring. I so so wish for a happy ending for this…one that would also give Boromir someone worthy to have and cherish him? . Awww…I am just enjoying this too much! Hugs, kisses, milk and cookies for the authors!

Heya, Autumn Verse,
I started reading this last year and it stopped after a few chapters on the archive I first found it on. I was pleased today to find it posted and finished here, and have read it all in one go. It was good enough for me to remember the title and keep looking, even though I have a bad memory. It’s the only unfinished fic that I was bothering to look up :) I loved that you could write such a hard-hitting story, and I had wondered what would happen to them. I had last seen Haldir behind bars and Lexius initiating Faramir into his perverted purposes. Thank you for finishing it. I found it moving and fascinating. All three of the characters were sympathetic, and I ended up wondering about Boromir and how he settled down afterwards. Thank you for the story.
